It will be hot this week with the beginning of a heatwave on Tuesday, which is also the fist day of September. Many of us can expect days in the mid to upper 90s, but in ENC the Century Mark will likely be hit, especially for places like Raleigh. This heatwave won’t be as intense as the one in July, but it should still be taken seriously and outdoor activities should take extreme caution. The hottest part of the day is between 11am and 7pm, and the high temperature usually comes around 5:30pm. If you must be outside, limit working hours to before or after these times, or stay plenty hydrated and take breaks in the shade or AC.
When is the heat supposed to break? Likely in time for Labor Day Weekend which is next weekend. On Saturday we will be hot still but not as hot, and then on Sunday we drop down to a “cool” 90 for most. Monday which is Labor Day will be the “coolest” with some in the upper 80s.
Have a great week and stay safe!
-Mike
