Cold Blast Set to Arrive This Weekend

Hello cold weather lovers! Much to your content, more cold air is on the way for Saturday! Highs will be some 10-15 degrees below normal for many, making for some cold mornings and nights.

Below is the GFS model temperature departure from average for Saturday:

Much of the eastern third of the country will experience a decent Arctic outbreak. Then, there is another reinforcing cold shot behind this one by Monday (below)! So there will be back-to-back cold intrusions.

We could be waking up to temperatures near or slightly below freezing here in Charlotte. Take a look at the morning lows next Tuesday as projected by the GFS:

Many other media sources are on board with an overall higher chance for below normal temperatures for the Southeast.

We are in frost season. So make sure to keep an ice scraper handy in your car. Or better yet, there is windshield washer fluid that comes with a de-icing agent. That would be faster.

Be prepared to turn the heat on, and if there is a fireplace, please practice safety and have your fireplace checked out professionally before using it. Also, use space heaters with extreme care.
