Cold Wave Could Impact Southeast Next Week

We had a very warm winter last year, and it makes us nervous that we may have to pay for it at some point. We are wondering if this next upcoming Arctic Outbreak is the answer to our recent warm winters. Below is the Euro deterministic model for next Tuesday!

If this level of cold makes it to the Southeast, we can expect rolling outages from Duke Power again. This is because they can’t handle or are concerned about the load on their grid from everyone using heat.

It is advised for now to make sure you have enough firewood and ways to charge electronic devices in case the power goes out. And also a way to keep warm should the power go out.

This airmass may moderate some, but will still contain a good punch. We are looking at mid to late next week for the arrival. NOAA has put out advisories for this upcoming potentially severe cold wave.

This does not mean snow, but rather just very cold and dry air. We might need the full works, including hats, gloves, scarves, and thick coats and pants.

Stay tuned for updates and please share this article with family and friends!
