Cool Start to the Week, Then Things Heat Up

Hello premium members!

You may have heard talk about the warm returning this week, and that is correct. The beginning of this week will start out quite chilly, but then as the week progresses we will see the 80s and even close to 90 in spots. This will more likely be in Virginia. But even in the deeper South we will start to sweat pretty quickly after we step outside. Your A/C unit may get a workout, especially Wed-Fri this week.

Some GFS forecast high temperatures for Thursday:

Will this “heat” trend continue for long? As for now, it looks like it will for us in the South, but with random cool shots that will drop us back to seasonable temperatures for this time of year.

Around the 15th, we could be back below normal. This could be in the form of rain cooling us off.

This is a time of year when severe weather conditions are ripe. It’s not showing up too well on the GFS yet, but the severe storms out in the Plains will push east this weekend, potentially bringing another severe outbreak to our area. The Carolinas and Virginia could once again be under the gun.
