Heavy Rain is Likely Saturday Causing Travel Issues

As if holiday travel doesn’t present enough problems, Saturday will be a washout and a bad day to hit the interstates for many. Up to an inch of rain is expected across the Carolinas and Virginia. Extreme eastern and northern parts of Georgia could also see an inch of rain.

There is the possibility of this event starting out as a brief period of freezing rain across the western Piedmont of NC, however it is expected to change over to all rain, and thus limiting any periods of extended icing. However, roads will still be a mess complete with traffic and accidents, so if you can drive on a day besides Saturday it would be ideal.

Rain will clear out on Sunday (below) making for a much better travel day! Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving and be safe!
