Power Outages Possible Saturday

Windy conditions late Friday night into Saturday will cause the potential for numerous power outages across the region ahead of a strong cold front. Across the Piedmont, winds could gust as high as 50 mph before the front arrives, and could even gust a bit higher in spots as the front moves through on Saturday.

In the mountains, including Asheville, winds could hit 60 mph. The risk of power outages will be higher in the dark pink, primarily in the mountains.

This is expected to possibly be a significant wind event, so charge those phones and have a way for backup power including batteries Saturday.
