Cold Set to Arrive After the 8th

If it were ever a warm winter, this would be the one. There is no winter in recent memory as snowless and as warm as this one. However, now winter will try to show up when it’s almost time for spring, so it’s not recommended to plant just yet. Below is the CPC outlook from the 10th into the 14th.

The longer-range 10-14 day outlook also shows sustained below normal temperatures in the Carolinas below. This would mean that after the 8th, chances for below normal temps would be sustained into late-month. Or maybe into the 18th at least.

This will mean that cooling costs might not be as high as they were in February, which is crazy. And it also means there will be some frosts and freezes, which will damage any vegetation that is already blooming. So precautions may be necessary.

James Spann says it’s not recommended to plant until after April 15th.
