Cold was only temporary; heat to start increasing into next weekend

Many locations this morning dipped below freezing, and many locations saw a frost this morning. These recent strange weather patterns with cold and snow in almost mid-May are unprecedented, and some are asking, will it continue? For those who despise the cold, some good news is on the way, as a reprieve is lurking into next weekend.

For those of us who like the cold, hold onto that thought tightly, since typical May Carolina temperatures are on the way next weekend, where many of us will touch 90 F as indicated in the GFS below.

The warmth will continue possibly into next Monday as well shown below. The hottest days next week appear to be Sunday and Monday. Parts of the Deep South and Florida Panhandle could reach the mid 90s. This is actually more typical for this time of year. However, the mid 90s heatwave that took place down there in March was kind of rare.

Spring typically features wild swings in temperatures, so the recent patterns could be nothing unusual, minus the May snow. So for those who like the warm outdoors, your time is coming this week and especially next weekend.

Stay tuned!
