Cooler Than Normal June Expected in the Carolinas

This is just a cool weather lover’s dream, as the Euro Weeklies are suggesting a below normal June for the eastern Carolinas, and a near normal June for the foothills and mountains. A near normal June is highs in the mid 80s and even upper 80s at times, and would not be surprised if we hit 90 in the Near Normal locations.

For eastern locations, a below normal June is expected. Rain, tropical/subtropical systems, thunderstorms and clouds may hang tough, which will drop temperatures to below normal. Backdoor cold fronts may also play a role for eastern Carolinas.

It will be tough to get any heatwaves for June, as no ridges of high pressure are apparent on the models. Eastern locations can expect highs up to and touching 90, but nothing crazy like mid to upper 90s.

This might be a relief for some, since June is usually hot down here. But this June does not look to be so.
