Some of us are a bit at ease about the current hurricane season, since it has been a bit below average for activity, or in some circumstances, about average. All it takes is the big one, and then it’s a busy hurricane season.
Just because the Atlantic Basic is quiet does not mean that it won’t wake up at some point. Some of the most destructive hurricanes came through with the letters A-H, so the frequence of tropical cyclones was not great those years.
Through August 10th, a lot of sinking air over the equator will inhibit any type of “Cape Verde” type storms or Cabo Verde, not to get the islands confused.
But what are the chances of a category 5 storms hitting the United States? Find the below map for this year. The biggest threat this year, we feel, is going to be somewhere along the Southeast Coast. Of course, it could only be a Category 1 or 2 storms, as the legend scale is all-inclusive.
All it takes is one to break away off the coast of Africa and it makes all the difference in the word. Key theme here is not to panic, but to be alert to tropical forecasts this season!
