TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT EXPECTED NEXT WEEK
We realize it’s summer and that it’s July, but it’s tough to get temperatures to the Century Mark which looks very possible next week according to the hi-resolution Euro. The corridor of potentially deadly heat will extend all the way from northern GA, into western SC, NC, and across much of VA and even into DC.
This will definitely be a heatwave to note. Elsewhere, temperatures will likely top out in the upper 90s. Hopefully everyone’s a/c systems are fully charged and ready to be turned to full blast. Drinking plenty of water will also be essential especially for those who will simply just be outdoors.
Below are ONLY the air temperatures forecast for next Thursday, and does not include the heat index, which will be higher. Multiple locations could top out at or over 100 ° F.
This next graphic pretty much covers the heat index forecast for the Carolinas next week, peaking around Wednesday or Thursday. We could be looking at heat index values in excess of 110 ° F across much of the region! This type of heat is deadly for our area, and it just means that people will be hanging out in the air conditioning. Make sure to social distance since being crowded indoors will not be advisable.
If you go out, play it safe, with both the heat and also being around other people!
