Dangerous Heat Indices Expected Thursday and Friday

As we wind down the week and get closer to Labor Day Weekend, we will certainly feel the heat as we do so. On Thursday, it is expected to be the hottest day this week, with highs near 95 ° for some, and with the humidity it will easily feel like over 100 °. The hottest locations will be in eastern parts of the state, mainly east of I-77 and closer to the coast. Heat Indices could reach up to 107 ° near the coast, making for dangerous conditions.

Be sure to stay in the air conditioning if possible, and if you must be outside, take frequent breaks and also drink a lot of water and sports drink. Find the shade as a place for taking your breaks. It will be a decent day to lounge by the pool, however it can even be a bit toasty for that.

On Friday, more 100 ° + heat indices are expected, but won’t be as widespread as Thursday. Still, eastern parts of the Carolinas are where the heat will be felt most, combined with the humidity.

We will have another discussion on our Facebook page out the POTENTIAL upcoming autumn blast late next week, however the models are torn between well below average temperatures to a heatwave along the East Coast!

You be the judge, since we saw that happen last year.
