Dramatic eastern US warmup early next week

Dramatic warmup in the east early next week

We are looking for temperatures to rebound starting early next week. On Monday, some locations across the South could reach into the 60s. In Philly and the Northeast, temperatures could reach into the 50s and 40s farther into New England.

The thaw is coming this weekend from Friday through Sunday. But then this dramatic warmup begins on Monday.

However, this warmup is only expected to be temporary, as the severe cold will return once again after the 25th. The GEFS ensembles are having a difficult time with the cold air about to invade the eastern US on or around the 25th.

This is cause for concern for more severe cold similar to what we saw around New Years and the first week of January. Models do not do well with severe cold, and they could be confused once again, indicating they don’t have a handle of the outbreak around the 25th.

Keep it tuned right here!
