Early Jump on the Tropical Season?

It looks like we could have our first tropical feature of the season this weekend, and we hope it isn’t a sign of the season to come. South Florida will most likely receive some heavy rain from this system. As of now, the disturbance does not very impressive on the models, but it does have a moderate chance of getting named Alberto. It would be a weak tropical storm at most before making landfall in South Florida. The Bahamas would also be affected by this potential storm.

After dumping very heavy rains across South Florida, the disturbance then moves offshore and out to sea on a northeast path. A passing cold front will pick up this feature and send it on its way. The bottom line is very heavy rains for South Florida and the Bahamas with a bit of wind mixed in, perhaps 35 mph sustained at most.
