Extreme Cold Returns after storm departs

After this major storm system departs, the cold will follow on gusty winds. Blowing and drifting snow will continue Thursday and into Friday. Wind chills will reach the negative digits for many. In the severely below section, people can expect to see nighttime lows at or below 0. In the purple, lower teens and perhaps upper single digits. Darker blue, 30-45 F for lows.

The models are indicating a wave of cold following this snowstorm, starting with Friday 7am below.

Saturday evening temperatures are shown below. It will be cold enough to take precautions such as emergency heat settings, hats, scarves, and gloves. Dressing in layers is better than being bulky.

Stay safe out there.
