Freeze Warnings in Effect for the Western Carolinas Tonight

The coldest night of the season is expected tonight with widespread low temperatures in the 30s before Monday sunrise. Much of southwest VA, western NC, and the very tip of the SC Upstate are currently under the warning. Temperatures in the dark purple warned areas below could dip to near 32 degrees F or even below for some locations.

Below are the expected temperatures for 7am on Monday. While most of eastern NC and much of SC will stay out of the freezing zone, western locations especially the mountains will experience such. It will be quite chilly tonight, and a cold wake-up on Monday, so make sure you dress accordingly with long pants and a coat.

This is the beginning of a short-lived surge of cold, as we will quickly warm up by late-week.
