Holiday Weekend Could Be Singing the Blues This Year

Not what many want to hear (ok some do) but it will be yet another wet weekend for the Carolinas. This time, it will be in the form of a coastal low.

Friday evening the storm system will begin to ramp up, and it could already be windy for locations east. As we head into Saturday, the storm gets closer and will make landfall. Seems like Myrtle Beach will be the recipient. One thing to note is that the winds could be strong than first thought, with some tropical-force gusts. Below is the GFS for lunchtime on Saturday.

Unfortunately this system looks like it stalls as it moves inland into a cutoff low. This means that conditions will be wet and dreary into Monday which is Memorial Day.

Not a great weekend for the pool although many will open. And certainly not a good idea to go swimming at the beach due to safety reasons.

Me? I might be at my favorite spot with a craft beer, and will stick around home. It won’t be an ideal weekend for travel due to wrecks.
