The recent shift into a more winter-like pattern has brought snow to parts of Minnesota, and has set records for amounts and occuring so late in the season. If this pattern occurred in February, we would be in for a wild wintry ride.
But it’s happening in May, and the result will still be below normal temperatures for this time of year. Chilly mornings and overall cloudy and cool rainy days will abound. The good news is that A/C costs will be lower than usual, thus saving residents on energy usage.
For May 13th-18th, the GEFS ensemble mean shown below has much of the eastern half of the country in a cool and rainy spell. Any days that are sunny will be breezy and may have a touch of chill to them.
Get ready for more drearies as we approach the middle of May and perhaps beyond, as rainy and cool days will return.
