Piedmont Flakes Possible, Colder Weekend; Look Ahead

Yes, that’s right! There may be some folks that see flakes across the Piedmont late tonight, from 11pm-4am Saturday. Fayetteville up to the outskirts of Raleigh and Durham may be in luck late tonight. These should just be novelty flakes, but be aware of road conditions BEFORE heading out! We don’t want anyone stuck in their car like in Alabama on Christmas.

Saturday wake-up temperatures will be colder than recent, with many widespread lows in the 30s, and 20s in the mountains and even 10s in spots. This weekend will feel like normal January, which is colder than it has been lately. Sunday morning will be the coldest, with lows in the 20s for many.

Temperatures will quickly warm up after then, and our next chance of rain is Monday night into early Tuesday. And it looks like a fairly wet week overall next week. Temperatures look to remain above average after this weekend, but there may be some cooling down back to normal closer to the end of the month. No immediate big cold is expected anytime soon.

Have a great Friday night and a great weekend ahead!
