Repeated Cold Waves to Grip East Coast

We will slowly warm up this week as we approach Halloween, but the warmth will not last. The beginning of November will start out warm, but then quickly into the 2nd and 3rd temperatures will plummet once again. The pattern will be cold spells following brief warm spells. This may also indicate an uptick in severe storms ahead of the passing cold fronts.

The intrusions of cold air will not just be limited to the 3rd, however. The next chilly invasion will be around the 9th according to the GEFS below.

It seems to be a transient pattern up until the 9th, but after the 9th into the 13th is when we could see below normal temperatures stick around. There are additional signals that the cold could be around through mid November.
