Springs Beginning?

Right now parts of the Southeast are seeing wintry precipitation, and winter will not let go of its grip on the Eastern US. We already have moved our clocks forward, but we are still waiting for the weather to cooperate with the calendar. Even though meteorological spring has started it still feels like winter for much of the East, but there is hope!

With the coastal storm today temperatures are to be below freezing ad bring a mess to the Southeast before dumping heavy snow for New England tomorrow. Things are to switch as we head into the weekend.

GEFS 500mb Height Anomaly for 00z SUN March 18t, 2018:

A ridge is to move over the East this weekend, which will make it feel like spring to begin next week. Also, another thing to take from this is that we also have a trough in the west which will create an area on convergence in the Central US that will spark up more rain for the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys.

By the middle of next week things do get a little interesting again as a trough moves into the region again.

There is agreement on this scenario, especially in the Northeast where we could get one more winter blast before we move forward.

Winter and spring always fight at this time of year, but spring will win out even though winter is putting up a very tough fight. Just how long can winter keep the fight up? We will let you know, so stay with us as we get you prepared to welcome spring!
