The Beginning of May Looks Hot

The CPC has released their outlook for the beginning of May, and it does not look too cool. In fact, A/C units will be humming across the Southeast as temperatures will soar to well above normal for this time of year. Widespread 90 degree readings are likely, especially in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Pools will open, and trips to the beach may be in order. A random cold front could bring relief around the 5th or 6th.

What about precipitation trends? It is not looking too wet, any rain will likely come from showers and thunderstorms. So mainly we can expect hot and dry through the first 10 days of May. This may or may not be an indication of the upcoming summer, and if it is, there could be a wildfire threat.
