Tropical Depression 3 Likely to Become Chris This Weekend

Tropical Depression 3 is currently sitting of the Carolina Coasts and will continue to do so until late Saturday. This depression could then strengthen a bit as it starts to head northeast on Sunday. By Sunday night, we expect to have Tropical Storm Chris. The area that should be on alert is the NC Outer Banks including Hatteras.

Forecast track for TD3/Chris

Tropical-storm-force winds are not expected to affect SC or even NC that much, with the exception of the Outer Banks. Any residents or vacation-goers should expect windy conditions there and should begin to take precautions. While this is not expected to be an extreme wind event, the Outer Banks should expect gusts in the 65-75 mph range. This can cause structural damage and can blow objects away that are not tied down.

Below is the NHC’s probability for tropical-storm-force winds forecast for 5 days from Saturday July 7th.

Stay tuned as we will keep bringing updates should anything change!
