Warmer Than Usual Spring 2020

If you don’t like summertime temperatures in spring, then this may not be the upcoming season for you. Recently we have had very hot late springs here in the Carolinas. Last May, temperatures topped out near 97 degrees F during a substantial heatwave.

This year, we can’t tell if the same will happen, however NOAA’s Spring Outlook has much of the East Coast in above-normal temperatures. This means that you may be able to open your pool a bit early this year, and enjoy those outdoor BBQs. Or if you like to run or jog this could be a perfect upcoming season for you.

With the enhanced warmth could mean the early arrival of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. Especially if there are wild swings in temperatures. Any cold front that plows into warm and humid air could spell trouble.

This also could mean pleasant beach trips, since any extended could would not stick around for too long. This is pleasant weather, but if it gets to be too hot too soon could have cool weather lovers complaining.

As we enter March, the CPC is already forecasting that we will experience above-normal temperatures across much of the nation.

This might be another spring to get the summer clothes ready earlly!
