Widespread Power Outages Likely From Florence

Another safety concern for residents is the loss of power. This is due to some being on medical equipment that relies on electricity. Also, traffic lights may go out which would cause safety issues on the road. It is recommended to store any food in your refrigerator in the freezer. The most widespread outages are expected in the eastern part of the Carolinas, however outages may occur as far west as Charlotte and into the foothills. Winds will not have to be strong to topple trees on already saturated ground. Prepare for days without power in the western Carolinas, and even weeks in the eastern Carolinas, especially closer to the coast. Remain inside if you can when the power goes out. Looting and other unsafe activities may commence.
