Wintry Scenario Possible Sunday

There is growing uncertainty as far as which model will win out this weekend with our winter potential, however we are leaning towards the Euro. Climatology also tells us it’s hard to get snow across NC and SC, even in the dead of winter. But there is a chance for some of the white stuff for the mountains and foothills. Right now, models are not completely accurate. Also, they do not include sleet totals, which there could be a lot of from this storm. Timing is early morning Sunday and during the day Sunday into Sunday night. Some Super Bowl snow is possible in the blue!

The “boom” scenario would be more robust snow on the backside of this system later on Sunday as colder air moves in. If that’s the case, then we would expand the snow to over Charlotte and maybe even farther east. This might not last long, however, as the snow bands would quickly move away.

It will be colder and windy behind this system later Sunday night into Monday. Monday night is looking very cold.

This could be our one decent chance at winter!
