Alberto to Cause Heavy Rains, Flooding, and Severe Weather

Alberto is headed for the Gulf Coast tonight, most likely making landfall along the Florida Panhandle. I don’t think Pensacola is completely out of the picture for a direct hit, but we shall see. The latest on this storm is that he may strengthen to a category 1 hurricane before making landfall on Monday. A Memorial Day storm will be one for the books, especially if he becomes a hurricane.

The GFS and Euro are in agreement of a Panhandle landfall. Impacts that can be expected are power outages from high winds in excess of 70 mph, heavy rains causing dangerous flooding, and winds damage from downed trees. Residents are expected to keep safe however possible over the next 48 hours and beyond. Do not attempt to leave now since conditions are becoming unsafe to do so.

Stay with us here at East Coast Weather Authority as we continue to bring you the latest on Alberto.
