Carolina Heat Builds on Sunday

The heat will begin to build Sunday, as a major heatwave is underway. Heat indices across the Carolinas will reach values in excess of 100 degreesĀ  F for inland locations. Coastal locations may not be too far behind.

We can expect highs in the low to mid 90s, but with the added humidity it will feel hotter. Residents will sweat quickly after stepping outside. What kind of values can we expect Sunday?

Below is the legend for expected heat indices for Sunday.

Area A – Values of 95 to 99 degrees F

Area B- Values of 96 to 101 degrees F

Area C – Values of 85 – 90 degrees F

Monday these values will increase slightly across the region. We can add a degree or two to the heat index for these locations. This heatwave is expected to last at least through the 4th of July and beyond.

Make sure you take precautionary measures, which include staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities to the early morning and late evening hours.

Stay cool!
