Charlotte will Witness Code Orange Air Quality and 100 + Heat Index This Week

This is not going to be the most comfortable week outside, as hazy hot and humid conditions will prevail across the Queen City. Heat indices will be over 100 degrees F this week, especially starting on Tuesday. We can expect a hot 4th this year with temperatures in the mid 90s. Some parts of North Carolina could see highs in the upper 90s and even touching the Century Mark.

Tuesday is only the start of our heatwave, with highs reaching around 95 F.

Code Orange air quality alerts will also be in place, as the air will be stagnant with little to no winds. This is unhealthy for sensitive groups and it’s not advised to do any heavy labor outdoors which would cause breathing in of pollutants. Ozone will be present in the atmosphere around Charlotte.

Take care and take it easy! Check on the elderly and pets.
