Cold Blast to Grip Southeast this Week

As forecasted, cold is on track to set in this week. On Wednesday morning we are expecting lows in the teens across some of northern NC and the mountains. Widespread 20s will be elsewhere except for the coast. See the expected low temperatures in the graphic below for your location.

Therefore, it is advised to protect water pipes and bring pets that are meant to be inside, inside. The end of the month looks cold! This is a pretty sizeable cold shot for late November.

It does look to be transient, however. We could head back to normal temps or even above to start December. But that is by no means a nail in winter’s coffin. It’s not even winter yet but we are seeing signs of much more activity (rain?) than last year, for sure.

The pattern will include active low pressure tracks across the Southeast, so the only thing missing will be a source of cold air. But we are certainly getting one this week, just misses the timing on low pressure.
