Tricky Holiday Travel This Week

It will not be ideal for travel this week weather-wise or time-of-year-wise. On Tuesday, a major storms system moves in with the best chance of widespread rain since August. But, it will fall on one of the busiest times for travel of the year.

The image above shows where the heaviest rain will fall on Tuesday. It looks like the western Carolinas and northeast GA will see the most. Then, that area of rain pushes east and locations like Charlotte and Raleigh will get upwards of an inch later in the day Tuesday overnight into Wednesday.

South Carolinas and Georgia amounts:

Rain lingers for the coastal locations and locations east into Wednesday morning as a secondary low tries to develop along a cold front. Future radar for 7am Wednesday is below.

The key takeaway is it will be a bad week for travel up to and including Thursday. Rain and mist will provide lower visibility and many wrecks across towns/cities. Stores will be mobbed with residents tryna get a turkey. You know how that goes.

I’m going to have it in park, and will sample some holiday flavored beers.
