Cold Wave Possible Just Before Valentine’s Day

This may be more of a reason to stay inside with your spouse for this Valentine’s Day. This is by no means a slam-dunk forecast, but the GFS is showing some bitter cold around the 13th. This looks like it could be an Arctic-style outbreak that makes it all the way down into the Southeast.

Temperatures could go down into the teens just like they did last night. And it certainly looks like we’re not going to have a warm February plaguing us this year like recent years.

In fact, with that ridge building over Alaska, February will feel like the opposite of December when we had record highs in the Southeast. There were record cold temps in Alaska then but now could switch over to record warmth.

This just opens the gates for Arctic air intrusions into our neck of the woods and multiple chances at more snow.
