Frigid Night Ahead for the Carolinas

As our overnight light snow event moved out to sea, it was part of a much larger system bringing blizzard conditions all the way from the Mid Atlantic to New England. As a result, much COLDER air is moving in tonight behind this very large storm system! Tonight will be the coldest air so far this season.

Temperatures will dip into the 20s for most of SC, as NC will bottom out in the teens. The emergency heat setting on the thermostat will be needed tonight for those with electric heat.

The reason is it saves wear and tear on your normal heating system. If you smell burning when this feature is turned on, it’s normal. It can really stink.

It will be a good night for the fireplace, if not excellent.

Full winter gear is recommended to those that head out tonight or early Sunday morning.
