GEFS not giving up on tropical trouble, others not on board

As many know, the GFS has been spinning up a significant tropical feature late next week. It’s not known if this system is “phantom” or if it could be a possibility. The GFS upgrade has been known to spin up systems and make them stronger than they actually are. Therefore, this very possibly could just turn out to be a tropical wave, but it bears watching.

Over the next 5 or 6 days, we are starting to look at some kind of tropical disturbance regardless in the Gulf. The intensity is not known, but it does not appear to be too strong. Also, there will be another area to watch down around Central America. Chances of actual development are not all that generous.

We will follow the models and see if the Canadian and Euro hop on board.
