Hurricane Jose has some track uncertainty still, however it now looks like he is trending a little bit more west than before. This puts eastern New England in a potential impact zone. According to the NHC, Jose will remain a hurricane, however as he tracks north, he will weaken slightly into a tropical storm. Anywhere from Connecticut to Cape Cop are in the crosshairs since they are in the cone of uncertainty. We are thinking that Cape Cod will get clipped by this storm.
This is subject to change, however the recent trend is Cape Cod getting some of the storm as it passes by. This is around Wednesday morning.
If Jose comes any closer to the Outer Banks, Tropical Storm Watches might have to be issued! However, this does NOT mean that you will get a direct hit from a tropical storm. North Carolina only needs to watch this system as of now, and think about some wind and maybe power outages. However, Cape Cod should start making some preparations for tropical storm conditions! If you live in Cape Cod or coastal Massachusetts, consider testing your generators and flashlights in case you lose power. Just make sure you’re not stuck trying to make last-minute preparations. Tropical storms are still dangerous as far as coastal flooding and high winds.
