Hurricane Season Activity Could Flip

The Atlantic Basin has been frightfully quiet so far this season, and it is starting to become a bit unusual. As we head into late August and early September, the peak of the season usually occurs. Nonetheless, the tropical activity could begin to pick up.

The Euro ensembles shown above indicate what could be a series of tropical waves that start to come off the west coast of Africa. There even could be some “homegrown” activity just off the East Coast, and some activity possible in the Bay of Campeche that could eventually impact Texas.

As of now, this is the only activity that the NHC is watching over the next 5 days. Other than that, we may have a couple spots to watch in the Atlantic as we head into late August.
