INVEST 94L FORMS IN THE ATLANTIC
Invest 94L is our next disturbance in the Atlantic to watch. This system is currently located to the west of the Cabo Verde Islands and has a 50% chance of formation over the next 5 days by the NHC. There is no guarantee that this system will evolve into a major hurricane such as Dorian. But it should be monitored as it tracks west towards the Leeward Islands. As it continues to track west and possibly forms into a depression or tropical storm, we will then have a better picture on where future tracks will be. Since this storm is moving west at a fairly low latitude, we are a bit nervous about the US coastline if it does not recurve.
Most models continue it on a westward track into next week. Only two outliers have it making a northward turn. It’s still early in the game, so we will see first if this system forms, and second where it will track. It is too early to say if this system will affect the US in any way.
Stay tuned right here with Carolina Weather Authority and WxSynopsis this hurricane season as it looks to be busy!
