Major Coldwave Likely to Hit Around May 10

It will be a rather chilly start to May, and we will warm up slightly into this weekend, but major changes are coming late next week. A surge of Arctic air is poised to take over much of the eastern half of the country around the 10th of May. However, the chill could start as early as Thursday the 7th. This would be perfect in the wintertime for cold and snow lovers. But heading into late spring this is kind of unusual. Keep in mind, normal temperatures for this time of year are in the 80s for the Carolinas, so well below average may only be highs in the 50s or 60s. It will feel more like March than May in the coming weeks, with the exception of a few warm days near 80 F.
