Mid January Arctic Plunge

An arctic blast is on the way, and not just for a couple of days. The cold air is here to last. Through the rest of this month you can expect very cold temperatures to infiltrate the Eastern US. Here is our rest of the month temperature outlook:

Models have honed in on major cold affecting the Eastern US for the rest of the month.

Like we have said many times this winter, we have compared this winter to the winter of 2002-03. Unfortunately, we are unable to show you the analogs from that winter due to the shutdown. During that winter there was a major cool down from mid-January into March, and that is exactly what we are expecting.
