Much More Rain in Store for the East

The heat will not last. It won’t even get as hot as first expected in many locations, due to forecast model error. Sometimes the GFS model overblows the high temperature forecast. It will have a warm bias. However, even with some moderate heat, the heat will break in a series of several cold fronts bringing rain and storms, some severe. However, over the next 7 days, we can expect much more rain across the entire state of Florida, where they don’t need any more, and the Midwest. Also, New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and Western NC and VA. This should keep any drought concerns at a minimum. WPC 7-day rain totals:
