Multiple Cold Shots for Carolinas into Late October

There is welcome news for cold weather lovers. Yes, into late this month we can expect multiple rounds of cold shots. More than one cold front will push through our region through the 20th, and perhaps beyond. Many pools are closed, and it’s about time for that to happen.

The GEFS shows the cold at least into the 20th. However, temperatures could slowly warm up in between cold fronts. But only to average or even slightly above.

These cold front will be powerful, and there could be some severe weather ahead of them as they push through. Those details are not clear yet, and depend on multiple parameters. But one thing is looking clear, and that is a below-average October temperature-wise.

Might be time to start thinking about winterizing your car and other vehicles, and start stocking up on wood. This is not to be considered official advice, but just a hunch.

Cold Octobers don’t always mean a cold winter, but if the trends are starting this early, it could be indicative of a cold end to fall and start to winter. But the severity is not known.
