Light Snow Spreads Across NC; VA Tonight into Tomorrow

The time is here, and we are on the verge of a winter storm for NC and VA tonight. Our official snowfall forecast is in, and it has slightly increased from yesterday’s. We now expect a pocket of 2-3 inches in eastern NC, and a wide swath of 1-2 inches across eastern NC, northern NC and southern VA. Elsewhere can expect a light coating up to an inch. The mountains will be the winners from tonight’s event.

Please see our graphic below for our expected snow totals by lunchtime on Thursday, or shortly thereafter.

The other factor with this storm system will be the wind. We are expecting gusts from around 30 mph inland at the most, and possibly near 40 mph at the coast, so there could be scattered power outages where the winds are stronger. So keep your phones plugged in just in case!

Play stay safe tonight and early tomorrow, and limit travel if possible, or better yet, stay warm at home.

Cheers,

CWA
