Ice is Possible for the Northwest Suburbs of Philly, Including Allentown

There is a major winter storm taking shape into the weekend, and many from the Midwest to Maine will see a smorgasbord of wintry precipitation. Indy, Memphis, and other parts of the Ohio valley are under the threat for accumulating ice.

The biggest concern is in the interior Northeast. The Lehigh Valley could receive a glaze of ice, making sidewalks and road treacherous. The timing is Friday into Saturday. Trees could snap and take down power lines under the weight of the ice. Power outages and tree damage are possible with this system.

Snow is also possible with this next winter system. Amounts are expected to be light overall, but the major concern is the ice. Saturday morning could be the last round of precip before the storm pushes away later Saturday. If the storm stalls and does not push away, then these icing issues could become more serious. But the ground might not be quite as cold around Philly. Mainly in the Lehigh Valley and the mountains could see the ice.
