Some Storms Possible Late-Week Anywhere in the East

As the low pressure system responsible for a winter storm in the Plains pushes east on Thursday and Friday, a cold front will follow. This front could touch of some storms, and even some severe storms on Friday into Saturday as colder air ushers in.

Some of the storms could even spin up a tornado. Not looking at a widespread outbreak here, but with a strong front coming through, there could be some storms that reach severe criteria. The full-size graphic below shows the outline of who could hear a rumble of thunder.

Stay alert on Friday if you live in the shaded area. Consult the NWS for all your watches and warnings, and take their advice.

Some spots in the Northeast could see a thunderstorm and snow showers in the same day. This could be extraordinary.

Stay tuned for some colder windier conditions behind the front after it moves through. This could be preceded by some strong to severe storms depending on location.
