Possible Trouble in the Tropics Later This Month

While this is not a forecast, the GFS model has been sniffing out something in the tropics around the middle of this month. The track of this tropical feature will change from run-to-run. We can’t say for sure how powerful this storm will be, but for now it is not looking impressive. Shown below is the 12z GFS Valid Monday June 19th:

Also shown is the same run of the GFS which is indicating sea-level pressure and precipitation output. 996 mb is not impressive for a tropical system. Nonetheless, Florida should keep an eye on this system should it develop.
