Rain Expected This Weekend as Possible Impacts from Nate Loom

Saturday through Sunday this weekend we will start to see rain move our way. Nate is forecast to hit the Gulf Coast as a Category 1 hurricane. However, rain will begin and spread out ahead of the storm, and will bring light rain mainly to the Carolinas at first. As of now, it’s looking like the mountains and west will see the heaviest rain amounts, not so much at the coast. This storm could even hit New Orleans, so you may see that in the news. Rain will start in the South around Saturday afternoon but won’t really become heavy until Sunday. Many of us across NC/SC/VA and the Northeast can expect a healthy amount of rain this weekend.

Total model accumulated precip between now and 2pm Monday:

The GFS model has Nate making landfall near New Orleans very early Sunday morning. This is looking like a Cat 1 according to this model. Image shown is around 2 am Sunday, however rain will overspread our region starting Saturday ahead of the storm.

Don’t forget your umbrella this weekend, and also outdoor activities may be cancelled, so be sure to check. Also please share and like East Coast Weather Authority on Facebook!
