Tired of air you can wear or cut with a knife? Some of us here at Carolina Weather Authority are, but we were wishing for heat so that pools can open, etc. However, we didn’t ask for heat indices well over 100 degrees. Current heat advisories for today Wed 6/16:
But What is on the horizon? A very welcomed blast of cooler air! This airmass will push all the heat and haze out to sea as a strong cold front moves in. Could there be storms ahead of this front? Yes, certainly, so we will need to watch for that.
And…here comes the good news…highs on Sunday will only be in the mid 80s for most, and upper 80s for some! That’s a big difference from the upper 90s. Below are the GFS highs Sunday:
However, the heat could come roaring back next week, but we will keep an eye on that. I saw a high on Wednesday next week of 104 in Charlotte. We will see if it actually gets that hot, that is EXTREMELY rare for around here. But the Euro sniffed out the heat that we are having.
Make sure to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, and stay hydrated. Always consult your local NWS for all official heat related safety.
