Searing Heat to Scorch the Southeast Next Week

Our previous article discussed how temperatures next week would only make it into the low 90s, however after some conversation with Jesse, (Stormtracker Sacher on Twitter) temperatures will hit the Century Mark for some on Monday and Tuesday.

This will be the hottest air of the season so far, and we are not even in Summer yet (astronomical summer anyway). The heat index will be much higher due to the humidity, or the “feels like” temperature.

Brad Panovich in Charlotte has mentioned the building heatwave next week.

It will remain hot and sticky into later next week, but the peak of the heat looks like it will be on Monday and Tuesday.

This will be some serious heat. Time spent outdoors should be limited and spent in air conditioning. Also, plenty of hydrating liquids should be consumed. Avoiding the hottest part of the day outside may also be helpful.

Local NWS offices should be consulted for any decision making outdoors or heat safety info.
