Severe Potential Black Friday for the Carolinas

Our next major storm system will be this Friday, the day just after Thanksgiving. While details are not certain still, models such as the one below, are showing potentially two waves of severe storms. Any snow for the Piedmont is highly unlikely. The mountains, however, may see some in spots and at higher elevations. This will be a storm where the cold air will have to “play catch up” to the moisture. But it will not be in time for most of us, so it will be all rain. Some storms could turn severe, so just stay aware on Friday.

Behind this departing system, temperatures tumble once again on Saturday. It will be another cold weekend as shown below. Morning lows on Saturday and Sunday will be back down into the 30s.

Conditions for Travel This Week

Travel looks good this week, as there are no weather-related impacts expected for Holiday travel. At least for our region the Carolinas. Friday is the only day that could be disruptive with rain and storms. The weekend also looks good for travel, it will just be cold.

Get into that festive frame of mind…
