Soaking Rains for the Southeast This Weekend

It’s just in time for the weekend. More foul weather. Although beneficial, the rain will bring a damper to any outdoor activities. Bring an umbrella if you plan to venture out on Saturday. Friday should be fine, but then rain slowly starts to creep in early Saturday to dampen the rest of the weekend.

GFS rain totals through 7pm Monday are shown.

The heaviest rains will fall to the west of the Appalachians, and along the Gulf Coast including the Florida Panhandle. The Carolinas will receive up to an inch of rain, with locally higher amounts possible. The washout appears to be in the mountains, therefore flash flooding will be likely in mountain locations.

Farther to the North, heavy rain will fall across Southeast PA including Philadelphia this weekend. DC will be included in this band of heavier rainfall.

Here are the WPC’s total rain amounts through 7pm Sunday. Atlanta to Charlotte to DC will all see a steady soaking rain.

Be safe, make sure your wipers are in good condition, bring the umbrellas, and make sure to use LOW beams in heavy rain!
